ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky, - The UW-Stout Softball team dropped two games to open the Pioneer Classic Saturday. Falling -7 to Hanover College and 0-1 to No. 9 Translyvania.
GAME ONE
A six-run second inning proved to be too much as Stout fell 7-6 to Hanover College. Stout scored two in the top of the first on a pair of sacrifice flies from
Payton Dolecki and
Donna D'Addabbo. Hanover hit a ground-rule double in the bottom half of the inning to get a run back. The first seven batters reached as Hanover totaled six runs on four hits, two errors and two walks before Dolecki got a inning ending double-play, firing home to nab the base runner after a flyout to center. Stout got two runs back in the fourth,
Alexa Anderson hit Stout's third sacrifice fly of the game and Elly Hoden stole third after a double to left center and scored on a throwing error to cut the lead to 7-4.
Stephanie Kuhn hit an RBI single in the fifth to bring Stout to 7-5
Alyssa Albrecht hit her first home-run of the season in the seventh, but the next two batters were retired before Stout could score the tying run.
Holden was 3-3 with a run scored. Kuhn and Albrecht each had two hits and
Mackensie Wolterstorff pitched five hitless innings in relief, striking out four.
GAME TWO
Stout dropped a 1-0 decision to the ninth-ranked Translyvania Pioneers.
Mackensie Wolterstorff scattered six hits over seven innings, striking our four.
Alexa Anderson had two of Stout's four hits. Transy led off the third with an double and then scored on a bunt single. Stout got the first tow batters aboard in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to push across the tying run.

Stout will wrap up the Pioneer Classic tomorrow, Sunday, March 17. The Blue Devils will face Defiance College at 10 a.m. ET and Anderson University at 12:15 p.m. ET.
