ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. - The Blue Devils closed out the Pioneer Classic with a pair of wins, defeating Defiance College 3-1, and Anderson University 6-5.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless two and half innings, Stout got the first three batters aboard and
Payton Dolecki reached on an error to drive in the games first run.
Donna D'Addabbo worked a walk to double the Blue Devil lead. Defiance got a run back in the top of the fourth, their first hit of the game was a home run to make the score 2-1.
Anna Blanford worked out the jam to keep the lead. D'Addabbo walked to lead off the bottom of the sixth,
Sammy Noreen pinch ran and stole second and moved to third on a
Stephanie Kuhn ground groundout.
Liz Rohl got a two-out single to left to give Stout an Insurance run heading into the top of the seventh. Blanford shut the door, retiring Defiance in order to close out the game. Blanford threw a complete game, striking out eight and scattering five hits to pick up the win.
GAME TWO
A four-run first inning and clutch hits in the seventh lifted Stout a 6-5 win over Anderson University. Stout batted 10 in the top of the first and scored four runs on three hits, two errors, two walks and a hit batter to take an early 4-0 lead. Stout kept AU in check until the bottom of the fourth when they scored a pair on a couple of hits and an error. Stout looked primed to get the win, leading 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, but a two-run two-out home run tied the game. The next batter hit a solo shot to left field and Anderson took their first lead of the game heading into the top of the seventh.
Alyssa Albrecht led off the seventh with a single to right center.
Payton Dolecki reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a throwing error.
Elly Holden then doubled to left field to tie the game at five.
Stephanie Kuhn pinch hit with two-outs and singled to right to bring in the go-ahead run.
Mackensie Wolterstorff then completed the complete game with her fifth strike out of the game

The Blue Devils are off until April 3 when they welcome Northland College to Alumni Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
