CLERMONT, Fla. - The UW-Stout Blue Devils dropped a pair of games to close out The Spring Games, falling to Hood College 8-6 and Marywood 6-5 in extra innings.
GAME ONE
Stout scored first in the top of the first when
Donna D'Addabbo drove in a run on an error.
Stephanie Kuhn singled down the the left field line in the third and Abbey Dusterhoff scored on a passed ball in the fourth to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead. Hood scored a couple in the bottom of the fourth. Stout got a run back in the top of the fifth when
Alexa Anderson's bunt down the first baseline stay fair to drive in a run. Hood however, scored four times in the bottom of the fourth and added two more in the sixth to take a 8-4 lead. Stout pushed two across in the top of the seventh but couldn't pull off the rally.
GAME TWO
Marywood scored in the first and second to take an early 2-0 lead.
Payton Dolecki drove in a run in the third.
Rayni Bresnahan hit an RBI ground out and
Katelyn Belleau singled on a bunt to take a 3-2 lead after four. Maryville scored two in the top of the fifth to retake the lead and added one in the top of the seventh to lead 5-3. Dolecki doubled to left center to drive in a run and
Anna Blanford singled to right to tie the game and send the game to extras. Marrywood scored in the top of the eighth and Stout's game-tying hit in the bottom of the eighth was caught by a diving center fielder in the left field gap to prevent the Blue Devils from tying the game. Blanford and
Mackensie Wolterstorff combined to strike out 10.
UP NEXT
Stout will head to Elizabethtown, Ky., to play in the Pioneer Classic. The Blue Devils will face Hanover on Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. ET and Translyvania at 3 p.m. ET.
