Stout Softball Splits a Pair On Day Two of The Spring Games

The Blue Devils top Lake Forest 4-1, and fall to Augsburg 8-6

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Blue Devil Softball team improved to 10-2 with a 4-1 win over Lake Forest and dropped a 8-6 game to Augsburg. 

GAME 1
Stout opened with a pair of runs in the top of the first.Grace Vowell took advantage of a couple of walks with a two-out single to right center to drive in a pair. Lake Forest got a run back in the bottom of the first. Kaitlyn Belleau walked to lead off the second, then stole second and third and scored when Emma Muehlenbeck doubled down the left field line. The next two batters got hit by pitch and Dolecki dove in another run on a fielders choice to give Stout a 4-1 lead. Mackensie Wolterstorff scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out eight to pick up the win. Vowell was 3-4 with two RBI and Donna D'Addabbo was 2-3. 

GAME 2
Stout took a early 4-0 lead with back-to-back two run innings. Alexa Anderson reached on a sac bunt and a run scored on a throwing error by the third baseman. Ariana Tremmers drove in another run with an infield single. In the third, D'addabbo singled to drive in a run and Alexa Anderson doubled to deep center to give Stout a 4-0. Augsburg scored six runs in the fourth on four hits, a walk and an error to take a 6-4 lead. Stout got a run back in the fifth on an RBI ground out. But the Auggies tacked on two more fifth to take a 8-5 lead. Stout pushed one across in the sixth, but couldn't get a rally going in the seventh.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Wednesday, March 13 when they face Wilmington College at 10:15 a.m. ET and Rutgers-Newark at 2:45 p.m. ET.
