SUPERIOR – UW-Stout fell to UW-Superior 4-3 in overtime Saturday night at Wessman Arena.
The Yellowjackets took advantage of a Stout turnover in the defensive zone to comeback for a 4-3 win 1:46 into the extra frame to steal the extra point in the WIAC standings.
Stout led early on;
Sam Kroon scored his second of the season from the blue line 5:23 into the first to give Stout the 1-0 lead. UWS would draw even on a shot from the point with 16 seconds left in the period.
They Yellowjackets would take a 2-1 lead just 42 seconds into the second period. Stout would tie the game at two at 4:26 when
Nicholas Stevens scored his fifth of the season on the power play. Just over five minutes later at 9:48,
Max Techel scored his second of the season when
Maksis Brimanis found him in the low slot.
Stout head a one goal advantage until 4:31 left to play in the third, when they Yellowjackets tied the game at three. Stout had couple of good looks late in the third and early in overtime, but couldn't cash in.
Stout outshot UWS 28-22 and
Tyler Masternak made 18 saves for the Blue Devils in the loss.
