Three-point shooting and rebounding were key factors in the Blue Devils 83-65 win over St. Marys's. The Blue Devils raced out to a double-digit first lead in the first half, led by the sharpshooting of senior guard
Jacob Walczak. Walczak scored 12 first half points, shooting 62.5% from the field. Near the three-minute mark in the first half, Stout held its biggest lead of the half, 15 points, thanks to an 11-0 run by the Blue Devils. Stout would ride that momentum into the half, leading 40-30 at halftime.
Â
In an attempt to slow the Blue Devil offense down, the Cardinals switched to a zone defense in the second half. Stout had no issues making the adjustment, continuing to shoot efficiently from the field, increasing the lead to 16 points at the eleven-minute mark, their biggest lead of the contest to that point. The second half featured a barrage of threes from both sides, but it was UW-Stout's
Jackson Wilhelmson that led the way for the Blue Devils in the second half, draining 4 three-point shots in the second half alone. Stout would continue to play well to the final whistle, ending the game with an 18-point victory over the Cardinals of Saint Mary's.
