RIVER FALLS – The Blue Devils fell 3-2 in overtime to No. 14 UW-River Falls Saturday night at Hunt Arena.
UW-Stout (5-5-1, 2-3-1) wrapped up the 2024 portion of the season with their fourth straight overtime game with a 3-2 loss to the Falcons (7-4-0, 3-3-0).
Stout trailed 2-0 early in the third period when
McCabe Dvorak scored his second of the season at 6:07.
Nicolas Pigeon and
Noe Perez picked up the assists to get the Blue Devils on the board. 52 seconds later
Kullan Daikawa raced down the slot and fired his fifth goal of the season past the Falcon netminder to draw the Blue Devils even.
Boyd Stahlbaum had the primary assist his eighth, and
Brendan Boyce had the secondary assist.
Stout had a chance in overtime, but their 2-1 opportunity was blown dead as they approached the River Falls blue line due to the Stout net being off the moorings. UWRF won the offensive zone faceoff and 30 seconds later scored the game winner at 2:17 of the extra session.
Freshman
Ryan Knight made 31 saves in his first game of the season for the Blue Devils.
