Weis Scores 18, Blue Devils Drop Season Opener to St. Olaf

The Blue Devils fell 61-56 in the 2024-25 season opener to St. Olaf (1-0) Friday night at the UW-Superior Merrill Thompson Classic. Stout started the game hot, sprinting to a 9-0 lead, six of those points scored by Brenden Weis.  St. Olaf responded with a 14-2 run to take a 14-11 midway through the first half. Play remained tight the rest of the half, resulting in a 30-27 Ole lead at the end of the first half. The Ole's would not surrender the lead the rest of the game.  The lead never extended beyond eight points, and the Blue Devils cut the lead to three multiple times, but were not able to break through. St. Olaf would go on to win 61-56.

• Brenden Weis led Blue Devil scorers with 18 points on 6/9 shooting. He added four rebounds. 
• Justin Nelson scored 11 points, four rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal. 
• Kobe Kirk led St. Olaf with 23 points.
