Record: Blue Devils (5-2), Pipers (3-2)
Location: Johnsons Fieldhouse- Menomonie, Wis.
UW-Stout and Hamline combined for 56 fouls, but the Blue Devils were able to pull away late to secure a 66-52 victory on Youth Night at Johnson Fieldhouse. This slow paced affair featured 66 free throws taken, 42 turnovers, and a whole lot of whistles. Without much flow, the offenses found themselves struggling, particularly in the first half. The score stuck at 13-9 for almost seven minutes, as no points were scored in the second quarter until under 4 minutes to go in the quarter. Stout would ultimately break the drought and take a one-point lead into the half.
The offense for the Blue Devils came alive in the second half. Stout had three players in double figures-
Amanda Giesen,
Anna Mutch, and
Elissa Lodermeier. Despite all of the whistles and turnovers, Stout shot the ball fairly well, eclipsing 50% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. The Blue Devil defense was stifling all night, as the Pipers only shot 28% for the game.
