Blue Devils Open Season with 7-0 win over Lawrence

MENOMONIE – The Blue Devils opened the 2024-25 season with a 7-0 victory over Lawrence University Saturday night at Fanetti Community Center.
 
Stout (1-0-0) scored three goals in 39 seconds and Tyler Masternak made 33 saves to record his fourth career shutout in a 7-0 win over the Vikings of Lawrence University (1-1).
 
After killing off a five-minute Viking power play, Nicolas Pigeon opened the scoring at 14:10 on a feed from Gunner Moore to score the first goal of the season for the Blue Devils. Adrian Stasiniak quickly doubled the lead just 18 seconds later with his first career goal. Senior defenseman Max Techel tallied his first career goal 21 seconds after that and in a blink of an eye Stout led 3-0.
 
Stout killed of three early penalties in the second period, including a lengthy 5 on 3 opportunity. In all, the Vikings totaled 11 shots on goal, But Masternak was up to the task. Pigeon scored his second of the night on the power play at 10:49. 2:06 later Kullan Daikawa buried a pass from Hayden Stocks to give Stout a 5-0 lead. Stocks fought through a check along the boards and slide the puck from the corner to the slot where Daikawa was all alone to score his 17th career goal.

Goals came in groups of three for Stout as 1:44 later Tyler Pfister scored his first career goal to give Stout a 6-0 lead heading into the third. Connor Mariner capped the scoring 2:28 into the third with his first career goals, on a shot through traffic from the high slot.

Pfister finished with a goal and two assists. Kroon tallied two helpers, Mariner had a goal and assist and Techel added a goal and assist.
 
NOTES
  • Stout's three goals in 39 seconds is the second fastest in school history. The fastest mark of 37 seconds was set, Nov 12, 2022 against Lake Forest.
  • Three defenseman scored goals for Stout and accounted for10 of the 18 points.
