The Blue Devils dropped a five-set heart breaker Tuesday night to the College of St. Scholastica. The Blue Devils dropped a hard-fought first set, 27-25. The set saw six tied and three lead changes. Tied at 12, Stout went on a 5-0 run to open up a 17-12 lead. Stout lead 20-15 and 23-20, but couldn't close out the set, falling 27-25. Stout responded in a big way in the second set. As a team, they hit .391 and built a 17-4 lead en route to a 25-12 win. Tied at four early in the third, Stout went on a 15-6 run to take a 20-10 lead and again took the set 15-12 to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth set was again back and forth, with 10 ties and five lead changes. The Saints took a 16-12 lead but Stout rallied to tie at 21 and 23, but CSS scored the final two points to push the match to a deciding set. In the fifth, Stout held leads of 9-5 and 14-10 but was unable to close out the match and the Saints scored seven of the final eight points to win 17-15.
