MENOMONIE – The UW-Stout Blue Devils rolled to a 42-24 homecoming win over UW-Eau Claire to win their ninth straight "War on 94" trophy.
Stout (5-2, 3-1) totaled nearly 500 yards of offense as they kept pace atop the WIAC standings.
Adam Moen was 24-31 passing for 343 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. He added 37 yards on the ground. Moen spreading the ball around, finding 12 difference receivers.
Patrick Corcoran made three catches for 131 yards and three touchdowns, including a 90-yard catch and run.
Eau Claire scored on their opening drive, going 78 yards in six plays to take an early 7-0 lead. Stout responded with an eight play 83-yard drive that culminated in a 26-yard touchdown catch by
Caleb Timm to tie the game.
Eau Claire's next drive stalled just outside the red zone when the Blugolds wide receiver dropped a would-be touchdown on fourth down. Stout took advantage and marched 64 yards in 11 plays to take the lead for good on a six-yard touchdown run by
Ben Tolkinen.
Eau Claire moved the ball downfield on their next possession, but the drive stalled inside the five, when the Blue Devil defense record three tackles for loss to turn the ball over on downs. Three plays later, Moen found
Patrick Corcoran over the middle at the 25-yard line, Corcoran dd the rest, running untouched for a career-long 90-yard touchdown.
Stout got the ball back with 1:49 left in the opening half. The Blue Devils quickly moved the ball 74 yards in 11 plays. Corcoran scored his second touchdown of the quarter, finding an open space in the middle of the endzone for an 8-yard score to Stout up 28-10 with 11 seconds left.
Stout's second possession of the third quarter saw another long drive. The Blue Devils methodically drove 76 yards in 12 plays, chewing up seven minutes off the clock. Moen found
Mason Frank for a two-yard touchdown to give Stout a commanding 35-10 lead.
The Blue Devils forced a three-and-out on the Blugolds ensuing drive. Stout quickly capitalized, going 66 yards in six plays. Corcoran again found space down the left sideline and pulled in his third touchdown of the game, a 33-yard strike to put stout up 42-10.
Brooks Brewer led the Blue Devil Defense with 11 total tackles, and an interception.
Dawson Goodman had nine tackles, eight solo, a tackle for loss and a pass break-up.
Braxton Munnikhuysen had seven tackles, a tackle for loss and break up.
Gavin Goodman had five tackles and three pass break-ups.
