Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Blue Devils Knock Off No. 6 Stevens Point 3-2

STEVENS POINT -  Boyd Stahlbaum tallied three points and Dawson Green made 30 saves as the Blue Devils upset No. 6 UW-Stevens Point 3-2 Friday night. 

Boyd Stahlbaum scored the game-winner with seven and a half minutes to play as UW-Stout (8-10-2, 6-4-0) handed UW-Stevens Point (14-5-1, 8-2-0) their first home loss of the season. 

Stout trailed 1-0 after the first period when the Pointer scored with a short handed goal with 12 seconds left in the period. Kullan Daikawa drew the Blue Devils even midway through the second with his eighth goal of the season. Stahlbaum assisted on the goal. 

Maksis Brimanis scored his sixth of the season four minutes later on a feed from Nicolas Pigeon and Stahlbaum.  UWSP tied the game early in the third. Stahlbaum gave the Blue Devils the lead when he and Jake McAlpine rushed in on a 2-1 rush after blocking a pointer shot. Stahlbaum buried the rebound for his 13th of the season and Stout lead with 7:39 left to play. Stout killed off two Pointer power plays in the final minutes and held on to win 3-2 despite getting out shot 32-17. Dawson Green made 30 saves. 


UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will battle the sixth ranked Pointers again tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 27 in the second game of the series. The puck is set to drop from K.B. Willett Arena at 7 p.m.
