Stout Falls 4-3 in Overtime at No. 6 Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT -  Stevens Point scored four unanswered goals to stun Stout 4-3 in overtime Saturday night in K. B. Willett Arena. 

Stout (8-11-2, 6-5-0) scored three times in the first period, but Stevens Point (15-5-1-9-2-0) scored three goals in the final 14:30 of the third to force overtime and eventually the game winner. 
Jake McAlpine opened the scoring just two minutes in when the UWSP defenseman fell down and McAlpine skated in all alone to score his eight of the season. 

At the 12:07 mark Caleb Serre tapped in a loose puck in the cease for his second of the year, McAlpine assisted of the goal. 

With just under two minutes left in the opening period Serre sprung McAlpine  who split the defenders to give Stout  a three goal lead. 

After a scoreless second, UWSP finally found the back of the net with 14:30 left in regulation. 2:33 later, the struck again to cut the Stout lead to just one. With the goali pulled for the extra attacker UWSP jammed the puck, covered by goaltender Tyler Masternak, under the goalie to tie the game, Stout argued that the whistle should have been blown for a covered puck, but to no avail and the game went to overtime. 

Stout made a line change and UWSP skated in 2-0 and won the game just 90 seconds into overtime. 

Masternak made 29 saves in the loss. 

Stout will head to Superior, Wis. next weekend for a pair of game with UW-Superior. Puck drop from Wessman Arena is set for 7 p.m. both Friday, Feb.1 and Saturday Feb. 2.
