Blue Devils fall to Cobbers

MENOMONIE (January 13, 2024) - The Blue Devils got on the board first, but the Cobbers scored seven unanswered goals to take the away victory. 

To start the game, Concordia-Moorhead (8-6-1) went on a power play, but UW-Stout (5-10-2) killed off the early power play. 

At 6:34 of the first period, Stout went on their first power play of the game. At 8:21 of the game, the Blue Devils scored to get on the scoreboard. The goal was the first shot on net for Stout. The power play goal was scored by Kullan Daikawa with assists from Boyd Stahlbaum and Nicolas Pigeon

The Cobbers got another power play chance at 14:51, this time capitalizing. Concordia's Mason Plante scored the power play goal at 15:54 with assists from Cole O'Connell and Joseph Harguindeguy. 

At 16:25 of the first period, Cobber's Adam Brown scored to make the game 2-1 in favor of Concordia. The goal was assisted by Troy Dahlheimer and Zach Stoner. 

At the end of one period, shots were in favor of Concordia 12-6. 

In the second period, the Cobbers scored in 24 seconds to make the game 3-1. The goal was scored by Hanson O'Leary with an assist by O'Connell. 

Concordia went on a power play at 1:57. During the power play, Stout took another penalty and skated three on five for 1:36. But at 2:39 of the period, Mason Plante scored the five on three power play goal with assists from Harguindeguy and O'Connell. 

Stout had a chance to get the game to two goals at 9:58 when they went on a power play, but failed to get the puck in the net. 

At 12:25 of the second period, Concordia's Hunter Bjorge scored the Cobber's third goal of the period to make the game 5-1. 

Concordia went on another power play at 18:59 of the period and would start the third period on the power play. 

During the power play in the start of the third period, the Cobber's O'Connell scored with an assist from Plante. 

At 2:26 of the third period, multiple penalties were called on both teams and Concordia would go on a five minute power play. But Stout held their ground and didn't allow a goal. 

At 15:54 of the period, Concordia scored their seventh goal when Hunter Olson scored with assists from Bjorge and Bauer Barry. 

The Blue Devils start back up its conference schedule with a matchup against Northland College on January 19. Puck drop is set at 7:00 p.m and will be played in Menomonie.
