Blue Devils Top Central and Luther College

DECORAH, Iowa - The Blue Devil volleyball team picked up a pair of wins in Iowa on Saturday, halting their brief two-game losing streak by topping Central and Luther College. 

The Basics Game 1
Score: UW-Stout 3 – Central College 2 (25-18, 25-17, 17-25, 24-26, 15-12)
Record: Blue Devils (12-2), Dutch (14-3)
Location: Luther Regents Center

The Blue Devils and Dutch traded points through the first set before Stout closed on a 9-3 run to tak the first. Stout was able to build a lead early in the second and keep Central at arms length and quickly held a 2-0 lead. Central was able tp close the third set on a 10-3 run to stay alive an force a fourth. The Blue Devils looked to be in control of the forth set, leading 19-11 and 24-19. But  Central would not go away quietly and scored seven straight to force the deciding set. The teams traded points and were tied at 10 Lydia Kneubuehl then had two blocks and the final kill to secure the win for Stout.

The Basics Game 2
Score: UW-Stout 3 – Luther College 1 (25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 25-20)
Record: Blue Devils (13-2), Norse (5-12)
Location: Luther Regents Center

The Blue Devils topped Luther in four sets to improve to 13-2 on the season. Stout was able to grab a lead early in the first and maintain a three point ead throughout the set to win 25-20. The second set followed suit, but Stout was able to close on a 8-1 run to win 25-16. Luther opened the third on a 6-0 run and extended the lead to 10-3. The Norse led 21-9 and Stout rallied but couldn't close the gap, dropping the set 25-17. The fourth set was tight, going back and forth. Tied at 18, Stout closed on a 7-2 run to win the set 25-20 and win the match in four.
