MENOMONIE - University of Wisconsin Stout Blue Devils Esports continue their regular season in NACE Varsity Premier, and Activision Blizzard Collegiate. Rocket League started their campaign to defend their Division 1 title in the Wisconsin Collegiate Rocket League Series and started their Collegiate Rocket League Qualifiers. Valorant also trying to qualify for Samsung Dreamhack LAN.
Overwatch 2:
NACE Varsity Premier: 3-1 Win vs Lindenwood University (0-2, 1-2, 3-1, 1-2)
The Blue Devils are still searching for their first win in NACE Varsity Premier, they went to battle against Lindenwood this past week. The first map was dominated by Lindenwood, 0-2. Stout was able to force a few more fights on the next Hybrid map, but fell short 1-2. The Blue Devils found their stride on the third map, winning 3-1. The fourth map of the series was close, with the Blue Devils losing, 1-2 in overtime.
Activision Blizzard Collegiate (ABC)
ABC Match 1: 1-3 Loss vs West Virginia University (2-1, 6-4, 2-3, 0-1)
ABC Match 2: 3-0 Win University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (2-0, 1-0, 3-0)
Valorant:
NACE Varsity Premier: BYE Week
Samsung Dreamhack Open Qualifier #1: Best of 3, Single Elimination
Match 1: Win 2-0 vs University of Texas at Dallas (13-11, 13-2)
Match 2: Loss 0-2 vs Texas A&M University (4-13, 4-13)
After a NACE BYE week, Valorant entered the Samsung Dreamhack open qualifiers, winning the first match against University of Texas at Dallas, 2-0, 13-11 & 13-2. The next round was against a very strong Texas A&M team, with the Blue Devils falling 0-2, 4-13 & 4-13.
Super Smash Bros.:
NACE Varsity Premier: 0-2 Loss vs NDSU
The Blue Devils battled against a strong NDSU team and came out losing the first match. Another close match, but the Blue Devils could not close it out, losing 0-2.
NACE Varsity Premier: 0-2 Loss vs University of Missouri – Columbia
A solid matchup for the second match of the week for the Blue Devils Super Smash Bros team against a strong Mizzou. Blue Devils came really close to forcing a third set, but fell 0-2 in the end.
Rocket League:
NACE Varsity Premier: 0-3 Loss vs Rowan University (0-6, 0-5, 1-5)
The Blue Devils Rocket League team had to play with an emergency substitute player and was not able to keep up with Rowan University, losing the series 0-3.
Wisconsin Collegiate Rocket League (WCRL) Division 1
UW-Stout vs Carthage College 1-3 Loss (2-3, 0-2, 2-1, 2-5)
The Blue Devils began their WCRL season this past week, taking on Carthage College. It was a tight game from the start, with each game coming down to the final moments. The Blue Devils trailed 0-2 in the series before taking their first win. But Carthage put their foot down closing out the last game 2-5.
CRL East Open Qualifiers #1: Best of 3, Double Elimination
University of Maryland Baltimore Win 2-0 (3-2, 5-2)
Butler University Loss 0-2 (1-4, 1-2)
Grand Valley State University Win 2-1 (1-5, 4-0. 2-0)
Brock University Win 2-1 (1-0, 1-2, 3-2)
University of New Haven Loss 0-2 (0-1, 1-2)
The Blue Devils Rocket League team entered to qualify for the Fall 2023, Collegiate Rocket League series. Starting strong with a quick 2-0 win against University of Maryland Baltimore, before they fell to Butler University, a rematch from earlier in the season.
The Blue Devils fell to the loser's bracket where they started a run, beating Grand Valley State University and Brock University, each 2-1. They were finally knocked out of the tournament against University of New Haven, 0-2. They will enter qualifier 2 next week!
