MENOMONIE - The Blue Devil volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of UW-Eau Claire in a five set thriller Wednesday night

Slow starts to sets hurt the Blue Devils as they lost for the first time in 2023. Eau Claire was able to build a 10-4 lead and extend it to 21-10 to quickly take the first 25-14. UWEC jumped out to a 8-0 lead and cruised to a another big win to take a two sets to none lead. The third set was tightly contested, going back and forth and was tied at 21. Stout was able to scored four of the final five points to take the third set. The Blue Devils came out firing in the fourth, taking a quick 6-1 lead and extended to leads of 14-7 and 17-13. UWEC rallied and tied the match at 24 and briefly held a 25-24 advantage, but three straight points punctuated by a
Lauren Duenkel kill sealed the set win for the Blue Devils and forced the deciding set. UWEC led 3-2 and used a 7-1 run to build a 10-4 lead and take control of the set. Stout clawed their way back but were unable to close the gap and fell 15-11
