Balsley's Late Goal Lifts Blue Devils to 1-0 Win Over Luther

DECORAH, Iowa - Emma Balsley scored in the 73rd minute and Kristen Silenzi made five saves as the Blue Devils topped Luther College 1-0 Saturday night.

Emma Balsley ripped a shot from the top of the box off the bar and in to give the Blue Devils  the lead with 17 minutes left in the game. Kate Holst took a throw in deep in the right corner and sent a nice cross over to Balsley who found the back on the net on just the third Stout shot on goal of the game.

Luther pushed in the final moments, having several good chances in the final 45 seconds, including two corner kicks but the Norse couldn't put the ball on net and the blue Devil defense was able to clear any loose balls to secure the road win and extend their unbeaten streak to four games.

  • Luther had 16 shot attempts, eight in each half, with five on target.
  • Luther had 11 corner kick opportunities, Stout had one.
