EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Stout baseball team split a doubleheader with the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds Wednesday afternoon at Carson Park. Stout fell 7-4 in game one and won game two 18-10.
GAME 1
UW-Eau Claire scored four in the third and three in the seventh to win game one 7-4. Stout struck first when
Parker Hagebock hit an RBI single in the first, and Leyton Bowers doubled the lead the and RBI double in the second to. The Blugolds scored four in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead. Bowers hit a solo homer to right in the fifth and
Riley Boushack hit a solo jack in the seventh to tie the game up at four. UWEC led off the eighth with a solo home run and added two more to take a 7-4 lead heading into the ninth. Bowers hit a double but the Blue Devils couldn't string any more hits together. Harke and Schnell each went 2-4 and Bowers was 3-4 with two RBI.
GAME 2
Nolan Harke went 5-5 and
Jack Redwine hit a grand slam and drive in seven runs in the Blue Devils 18-10 win over UW-Eau Claire. Stout scored early and often to build a big lead and then hung on down the stretch before
Jack Redwine hit a grand slam in the eighth to open up the game and give the Blue Devils the big win. Stout scored in every inning but the fifth,
Jacoby Endreas drove in two in the first with an RBI double down the left field line. Redwine hit an RBI single in the second and Stout took an early 3-0 lead. The Blue Devils scored five in the fourth. Redwine got this started with an RBI single.
Nolan Harke follwoed with an RBI double and Leyton Bowers hit a 2-run shot to pad the Stout lead. UWEC chipped away at the lead and after four innings Stout led 9-3. Stout got into trouble in the fifth and sixth giving up three runs each inning and led 10-9 heading into the seventh. Stout and Eau Claire traded runs in the seventh and Stout led 11-10. Endreas hit an RBI single in the eighth, and Schnell hit a sac fly to give Stout a 13-10 lead. Redwine then broke the game open, unloading on a pitch, crushing a a grand slam to right field that would have left the entire Carson Park complex if it weren't for the facing of the second deck of party deck in right field. Redwine finished 3-5 with seven RBI and two runs scores. Bowers went 1-2 with four walks and two RBI. Endreas was 2-6 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Luke Costley picked the win and
Alex Foss pitched three innings to earn the save.
