MENOMONIE - The UW-Stout softball team split a doubleheader with No. 19 UW-Oshkosh on a blustery Sunday afternoon, dropping the first game 11-1 in the five innings and winning 4-3 in game two.
GAME ONE
Stout fell 11-1 in five innings to the nineteenth ranked Titans. UWO got on the board in the first with RBI groundout to first. and added three in the third, two int he fourth and five in the fifth. Stout scored in the fourth when
Maggie O'Brien hit and RBI single to drive in
Lexy Kupczak. The Blue Devils were unable to push across anymore runs and only managed five hits.
Mackensie Wolterstorff pitched four and third innings and struck out six in the loss.
GAME TWO
The Blue Devils rallied from a 3-0 deficit and scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Oshkosh 4-3 in game two.
Anna Blanford had a brilliant pitching performance for the Blue Devils, scattering six hits and three runs and striking out seven to earn the complete game win. UWO got runs in the first, second and fourth innings to lead 3-0.
Lexy Kupczak led off the bottom half of the fourth with a home run to left field. The blue Devils then loaded the bases and Peyton Dolecki worked a walk to cut the lead to 3-2. Blandford hit an infield single in the sixth, and moved to third on a double my
Emma Muehlenbeck, Dolecki followed with an RBI single to left to tie the game.
Katelyn Belleau reached on a fielders choice to drive in the go-ahead run. After getting tow Titans to pop up in the seventh, Blanford struck out the final batter to secure the win. Kupczak finished 3-4 with and RBI and a run scored. Kayle Pfeffer was 2-4 and Blanford and Muehlenbeck were each 2-3.
The Blue Devils will host UW-Superior on May 4, in a non conference doubleheader. First pitch from Alumni Field is set for 3:30 p.m.
