Both teams came into the game atop the WIAC, with this game deciding who has sole possession of first place. The first quarter showed just that, with both teams battling back and forth. Stout gained a slight lead, going up by nine to start the second quarter, but the Warhakws closed the lead down to just 2 entering halftime (37-35). The third quarter was when Whitewater pulled away. The Warhawks outscored Stout 23-11 in the third quarter, shooting a very efficient 8 for 13. This put the Warhawks up 58-48 entering the fourth quarter. Stout wasn't out of it yet. Whitewater saw their biggest lead of the night with 3 minutes left to go in the game, at 71-58. Over the next three minutes, Stout closed the lead down to four, but to keep the clock on their side, the Blue Devils had to foul. The Blue Devils put up a strong fight, but fell at the end of the buzzer.
