McAlpine's Hat Trick, Masternak's 25 saves Lead Blue Devils to 9-0 Rout of Northland

ASHLAND - Jake McAlpine scored a hat trick, Boyd Stahlbaum had five points and Tyler Masternak made 25 saves as the Blue Devils (4-4-1, 2-2-0) rolled to a 9-0 win over Northland College (1-10-0, 0-5-0) Friday night at the Bay Area Civic Center. 

McAlpine recorded his first career hat trick and six blue Devils recorded multiple point night as Stout won by the largest margin since 2008 when they also beat Northland 11-2. 

Peyton Hart opened the scoring in the first period on the power play at the 7:53 mark of the first. Less than five minutes later Maksis Brimanis sniped a shot to the top corner to put Stout up 2-0. McAlpine scored his first of the game with 22 seconds left in the first to put Stout up 3-0 after 20 minutes. 

Jacob Halvorson scored his second of the year at 11:46 on the power play for the lone tally of the second period. 

McAlpine notched his second on a feed from Halvorson to put Stout up 5-0 4:51 of the third. Stahlbaum scored his first of the game from Brimanis and Daikawa less than two minutes later to make the score 6-0. The line teamed up at 9:46 with Stahlbaum scoring his 8th of the season to push Stout to a touchdown lead at 7-0. McAlpine tallied his hat trick goal just 16 seconds later from Brandon Connett and Halvorson. Stout added the ninth goal at 12:35 when Daikawa found the back of the net. 

Stahlbaum finished with two goals and three assists for five points. Brimanis and Daikawa had a goal and three assists for four points. Halvorson had a goal and two assists and Connett had two helpers. Masternak made 25 saves for his second career shutout.
