SAINT PETER, Minn. - Three third period goals lifted Gustavus Adolphus past UW-Stout 5-2 Tuesday night in a non-conference match up.
Stout started fast, scoring 1:19 into the game on
Nicolas Pigeon's fourth goal of the year. The teams settled into the game after that, both recording eight shots on net and Stout led 1-0 after the first. The Gusties opened the second with two quick goals. Scoring just 16 seconds into the middle frame and then taking the lead 21 seconds later. Again the period seemed to even out, Stout had 12 shots on goal and GAC had 14. Keeping with the theme of scoring early in periods, Stout scored 1:17 into the third to tie the game at two,
Boyd Stahlbaum took a nice feed from behind the net from
Jacob Halvorson to score his sixth of the season and draw the Blue Devils even. With 7:06 left in the game the Gusties broke the tie and then doubled their lead less than two minutes later to take a 4-2 lead. They would add an empty netter with just under two minutes to play. Stout had 36 shots on goal and Gustavus had 38.
Dawson Green made 33 saves for the Blue Devils.
