The Blue Devils used a strong second quarter and a 22 point 11 rebound double-double from
Raegan Sorensen to win the season opener over Central.Â
The Blue Devils started slow, falling into a 11-0 hole. The Dutch led 9-0 less than 90 seconds into the game, thanks to three straight 3-point field goals to open the game.
Anna Mutch broke the seal for the Blue Devils and Stout closed the quarter on a 9-0 run to only trail by two after 10 minutes of play. Central took a 15-11 lead early in the second, but a three-pointer from
Lauren Arenz put the Blue Devils ahead for good at 16-15, five straight points from Giesen jump started a 19-5 run to close the half. Central battled back in the third and cut the lead to eight but a corner three from
Maraya Wiltrout just before the horn gave Stout the double-digit lead and shifted the momentum back to the Blue Devils. Stout would go on to lead by as much as 22 as the cruised down the stretch of the fourth quarter.Â
