MADISON - UW-Stout concluded the 2024 fall tennis season by competing at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Tennis Championship (presented by Culver's) at Nielsen Tennis Stadium over the weekend.
In singles play,
Ella Lamppa placed sixth, falling in the fifth place match 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 position. Lamppa lost her first round watch in a tie break 2-6, 6-1, (10-4). Playing at No. 6 freshman
Claire Dicke finished sixth. She lost her first round match 6-0, 6-1, but rallied to win her second round match 6-2, 6-1, before falling 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth place match.
At No. 2 doubles, Ashlyn Delleman and
Lexie Stein rallied from a first round 8-1 loss to win their second round match 8-7 (8-6). The fell in the fifth lace match 8-0 to place sixth overall.
Ellie Becker was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
UW-Whitewater captured its 17th straight conference title. UW-Eau Claire placed second, UW-La Crosse third, UW-Oshkosh fourth, UW-Stevens Point fifth, UW-River Falls sixth and UW-Stout seventh. The team title was determined by using a combination of the regular-season dual-meet standings and the WIAC championship results. The finish in the regular-season standings accounts for one-third of the criteria, while the conference championship accounts for the remaining two-thirds.
