MENOMONIE - The UW-Stout Blue Devils fell 6-1 to No. 11 UW-La Crosse Wednesday night at Nelson Field.
The 11th ranked Eagles totaled 33 shots and scored four goals in the first half en route to a 6-1 win over Stout. The Eagles opened the scoring in the fifth minute tapping in a rebound after the first shot was initially saved. The game was scoreless for nearly the next 30 minutes before scoring flurry in the final minutes just before half. UWL doubled the lead in the 34th minute. 48 seconds later,
Hailey Kane buried a beautiful shot from the 18yard box that nicked off the bottom of the crossbar to draw the Blue Devils within one with just over 10 minutes to play. La Crosse responded 16 seconds later to regain the two goal advantage. In the closing seconds of the half the Eagles shot from outside the left of the 18 yard box and scoring into the top right corner with two seconds left in the half to take a 4-1 lead. La Crosse was able to add two more goals in the second half to win 6-1. UWL attempted 33 total shots, 21 in the first half, with 11 on target.
