SAINT JOSEPH, Minn. - The Blue Devils scored in the 89th minute. But fell 2-1 to Saint Benedict Sunday afternoon.
Saint Benedict scored two goals just past the hour mark as the Bennies peppered the Blue Devil net, totaling 21 shots with 13 on goal.
The Bennies stuck first in the 62nd minute on a penalty kick. Two minutes later they scored again to double the lead. The Blue Devils broke the Bennies bid for a clean sheet when
Rachel Younker won a 50/50 ball near midfield and fired a nice ball toward the attacking third. The ball glanced off a defender and settled nicely a yard outside the 18-yard box for
Lauren Boyd who blasted a shot past the keeper for her second goal of the year with 1:57 left to play.
The Blue Devils picked up the pressure but were unable to find the equalizer.
Kristen Silenzi made 10 saves in 77 minutes for Stout.
