ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Blue Devils dropped their first non-conference contest of the season with a four set loss to St. Catherine Saturday night.

Score: UW-Stout 1 – St. Catherine 3 (20-25, 15-25, 30-28, 22-25)
Record: Blue Devils (15-5, 0-4), Wildcats 12-6, 4-2)
Location: Butler Center - Wildcat Gym
The two teams battled in the first set going back and forth. Stout held a 18-16 lead but two service aces against and a service error of their own, paired with two late attacking errors allowed the Wildcats to claim the first set 25-20. The Second set started out tightly contested again, but the Wildcats used a 11-2 run to close out the Blue Devils and take the set 25-15. Midway through the third, Stout jumped out to a 15-11 lead, only to see St. Kates storm back to take a 20-19 advantage. With the Wildcats holding match point,
Lydia Kneubuehl had a kill and a block to tie the set at 24. Three kills down the stretch by
Sidney Hoverman helped the Blue Devils force a fourth set with a 30-28 win. St. Kates held an advantage throughout most of the fourth set, building it to five points at 15-10 and 17-12. Stout got within one at 17-16 and 23-22 but couldn't get any closer as the Wildcats closed out the set and took the four set win.
