MENOMONIE - The Blue Devils fell on homecoming 7-1 to UW-Platteville Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field.
The Blue Devils got outshot by the Pioneer 31-16 and 16-4 shots on goal as Platteville won 7-1 to spoil homecoming.
UWP scored on their first shot on gaol in the seventh minute to open the scoring. The Pioneers kept up the pressure and five minutes later added a second goal to lead 2-0 just 11:06 into the game. Platteville added their third of the half in the 26th minute. The Pioneers attempted 20 shots with seven on goal in the opening 45. The Blue Devils were able to get one back when
Tessa Pagel took advantage of a mis played ball and buried the ball in the upper left corner from just out side the the 18 yard box to cut the lead to 3-1 in the 39th minute.
Platteville scored three goals in a span of eight minutes to blow the game open, finding the net in the 62nd, 68th and 70th minutes. They added one more in the 79th to wun 7-1
The Blue Devil goalies combined for nine saves as they faced a barrage of shots all afternoon.
