MENOMONIE - University of Wisconsin Stout Blue Devils Esports continue their regular season in NACE Varsity Premier, and Activision Blizzard Collegiate series. Rocket League continues with WCRL. The Valorant Academy team continues their season in NACE Open Plus. With this weeks matches completed, the Blue Devils Esports program has surpassed 50 competitions with an overall record of 25-25 across all game titles.
Overwatch 2:
NACE Varsity Premier: 2-3 Loss vs James Madison University
The Blue Devils started the match strong against JMU winning the first map of the series, 2-1. JMU were able to come back on the second map, defeating the Blue Devils 1-3. Blue Devils bounced back in their strongest mode to take the map three win, 3-2. Once again, JMU fought back winning map four to even the series, 2-2. The JMU Dukes were able to close out the final map of the series winning 2-3.
Activision Blizzard Collegiate (ABC)
ABC Match 1: 0-3 Loss vs New Haven University
ABC Match 2: 0-3 Loss vs University of California Davis
The Blue Devils finish the ABC Series with a record of 5-5 and do not qualify for post-season playoffs.
Valorant:
NACE Varsity Premier: 2-0 Win vs Lubbock Christian University (13-7, 13-8)
The Varsity Blue Devils Valorant team continues their strong streak on Bind getting out to an early 10-2 lead and kept the pressure on to close out the win, 13-7. The Blue Devils kept the pressure on closing out another map win, 13-8 to win the series. Senior
Nathan Lenz was the standout performer in the Blue Devils win this week with a combined 2.05 K/D across both games (43-21)
Valorant Academy:
NACE Open Plus: 1-2 Loss vs Penn State University
The Academy roster had a strong first game forcing it to overtime but lost 12-14 to start the series. The young squad came out firing in the second game getting out to an early 9-2 lead. They were able to hold onto that lead, winning 13-8 in the second map. In the final map of the series, the Blue Devils got off to a bit of a slow start falling behind 0-5. They were not able to catch up, losing 9-13.
Super Smash Bros.:
NACE Varsity Premier: 2-0 Win vs Bethany Lutheran College (12-0, 10-0)
The Blue Devils got off to a hot start, dominating the first set, sophomore,
Ethan Hershberger taking all 12 stocks from Bethany Lutheran. Blue Devils win 12-0. The Blue Devils continued their strong showing, with sophomore
Ben Willem taking all 12 stocks himself, winning the second stage, 10-0.
Rocket League:
NACE Varsity Premier: 2-3 Loss vs King University (2-1, 0-5, 0-3, 3-2, 4-8)
Game one was a thriller against an unbeaten King University, with the Blue Devils taking the 2-1 overtime win. King University came back hard in the second match defeating the Blue Devils 0-5. The Blue Devils couldn't score again in the third match going down, 0-3. The Blue Devils were able to crawl back in match 4 winning, 3-2. The final match of the series was tied 2-2 in the early minutes, but King was able to close out the series, 4-8.
Wisconsin Collegiate Rocket League (WCRL) Division 1
3-0 Win vs Madison College (4-2, 3-0, 5-0)
The Blue Devils faced off against Madison College in week 3 of Division 1 WCRL. Junior
Aidan Hamilton started out hot with a hat trick, leading the Blue Devils to victory, 4-2. They kept momentum into the second game taking another clean victory, 3-0. In the third game of the series it was
Joey Olson with the hat trick to help close out a 5-0 win to sweep the series.
