Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Blue Devils score three goals in second period, down Royals 6-3

MENOMONIE (January 6, 2023) - The Blue Devils faced off against non-conference opponent Bethel University (8-5-1) at the Fanetti Community Center. UW-Stout (10-4-1) scored three goals in the second period to skate past the Royals. 

To start the game, the Royals got on the board first when Braeden Bartoo scored for the Royals. Spencer Kring assisted on the goal at 9:42 of the period. 

At 12:37 of the period, the Blue Devils tied the game when Dylan Rallis scored his sixth goal of the year with assists from Kullan Daikawa and Alex Stuckert to make the game 1-1. 

The game saw its first power play when Bethel took a penalty to give Stout a man advantage at 16:47 of the period. But the Royals killed off the penalty. 

After the first period, shots were in favor of the Blue Devils 9-7. 

The second period saw more action. Bethel scored at 2:23 of the period when Justin Kelly got it past Green to make the game 2-1. The goal was assisted by Spencer Kring and Jack Brown. 

Just six seconds after the Royals goal, Stout went on a power play at 2:29. At 3:51 of the period, Jacob Halvorson scored a power play goal with assists from Matt Dahlseide and Gunner Moore

Stout went on another power play at 7:21, but Bethel killed off the penalty. 

The Royals went on a power play to try and take the lead at 12:19 of the period. But the Blue Devil's Peyton Hart scored a short-handed goal at 13:47 to make the game 3-2. Kobe Keller assisted on the short-handed goal. The penalty was later killed by Stout. 

At 18:12 of the period, Peyton Hart scored his second goal of the night, and 11th goal of the season to make the game 4-2. Kobe Keller and Trenten Heyde assisted on the goal. 

After two periods, Stout led in shots 20-15. 

In the third period, Stout went on another power play chance at 2:20 of the period, but the Royals killed off the attack. 

At 11:04 of the period, Bethel went on the power play and this time scored to make the game 4-3. Spencer Kring scored on the power play goal with assists from Tyler Braccini and Braeden Bartoo. 

But at 16:04, Blue Devil's Alex Stuckert scored his first goal of the season to make it a two goal game. Stuckert's goal was assisted by Dylan Rallis to make the game 5-3. 

With 1:30 left in the game, Bethel pulled their goalie to skate one man up. But at 18:32 of the period, Stout took a penalty. Bethel skated six on four for 1:03 seconds until Peyton Hart scored his third goal of the game on an empty net to end the game 6-3. Hart recorded his second hat trick of the season. 

Dawson Green recorded his third win of the year and saved 19 shots. Bethel's Austin Ryman stopped 26 shots. 

Up next for the Blue Devils is another MIAC matchup against Saint John's University on Friday, January 13 at 3:00 p.m. The game will be played at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
