ST. PAUL, MINN. (September 20, 2022) – UW-Stout (1-6-1) gave up two late goals as they fell to Bethel University (2-2-1) 2-0 Tuesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half that saw several chances by both sides, Bethel was finally able to break the scoreless tie with a shot from the edge of the box that just went over the outstretched hands of the Stout goalkeeper in the 79
th minute.
The Blue Devils tried to respond pushing the pace
Lauren Chukel had a golden chance to tie the match a goal a piece but her shot that seemed destined for the top corner was poked aside at the last minute by the sprawling Bethel netminder.
Bethel then added an insurance goal in the 88
th minute on a shot from the corner of the box that snuck past
Lily Shield and into the net.
Shield was peppered all afternoon. She faced18 shot attempts, making six saves on eight shots on goal.
