EAU CLAIRE (September 16) -  UW-Stout opened the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament with a four set win over Lakeland (20-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-9).
The Blue Devils and Muskies traded rallies in two tight back-and-forth sets early on. After dropping the first set, Stout (5-6, 0-1 WIAC) was able to hold Lakeland (4-7, 0-1 NAAC) to just a .057 hitting percentage in the second to tie the match up at a set apiece.
The third set started out similar before Stout used a 7-1 run midway through to take a 20-16 lead to boost them to a 25-21 win.
The Blue Devils dominated the fourth set, hitting .476 as a team using two 7-0 runs to cruise to a big 25-9 win.
Sidney Hoverman led the Blue Devils with a season-high 20 kills while hitting .349 for the match. 
Caroline Braun and 
Anna Hansen each had nine kills. Stout as a team hit .345 with 53 kills. 
Kennedy Barrett led Stout with 34 assists.
 
The Blue Devils return to Eau Claire Saturday, Sept. 17 to meet Finlandia University at 11 a.m. and the College of St. Benedict at 1 p.m.
