Tennis team opens home schedule by hosting UW-Eau Claire

MENOMONIE (September 14, 2022) - UW-Stout hosted UW-Eau Claire in their home opener, but the home meet did not give the Blue Devils a home court advantage as the Blugolds won all nine matches Wednesday at the South Courts.

At No. 3 singles, Kyrstin Hanson (Sr, Sarona) had the closest match of the night, falling 6-2, 6-2. Madeline Binczak (Jr, Eau Claire) was downed at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Lauren Couves (Sr, Ames, Iowa) and Lexie Stein (Fr, Sun Prairie) were both topped 6-0, 6-2, Couves at No. 1 singles and Stein at No. 6 singles. Ellie Becker (So, St. James, Minn) at No. 2 singles and Ashlyn Dellemann at No. 4 singles were both defeated 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Dellemann and Ella Lamppa (Fr, Virginia, Minn) lost 8-1 at No. 3, whle Couves and Becker, at No. 1, and Hanson and Kylie Rennie (Sr, Wausau) at No. 2, were defeated by identical 8-0 scores.

The Blue Devils return to action Wednesday, Sept. 21 at UW-Stevens Point.
