UW-River Falls 16, UW-Stout 2
MENOMONIE (April 19, 2022) - UW-Stout (10-16, 0-6) fell in both games to UW-River Falls (14-8, 4-2) on their home opening night. River Falls shut out the Blue Devils 8-0 in the first game and kept their bats hot in the second, getting the 16-2 win.
The Falcons scored three quick runs in the second inning of the first game while Stout struggled to get started offensively. River Falls went on to score a single run in the top of the fourth and then four more runs in the top of the fifth to end the game 8-0 after five innings.
The Falcon's Juliana Reynolds pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks.
River Falls kept going in the second game, jumping to a 6-0 lead after three innings. After the fourth and fifth so no runs by either team, Stout would work it's way back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Kaylee Peterson scored on an error by the catcher, followed by a
Maggie O'Brien RBI to send
Ava Williams home.
The Falcon's answered back with a huge seventh inning, scoring 10 runs. The Blue Devils were unable to answer back in the bottom of the seventh, falling to their conference opponent 16-2.
The Blue Devils are scheduled to be at Luther College, Thursday, April 21 in a game that was postponed April 13. The Blue Devils return home  this weekend, with a double header against UW-La Crosse on Saturday, April 23 and then on Sunday, April 24, against UW-Platteville. The Saturday games will start at 2 p.m. while the Sunday games will start at 12 p.m.
