Game Recap: Softball |

Stout edges North Park 2-1, but falls to Coe, 8-0

CLERMONT, FL (March 13, 2022) - Stout started the first day of their Spring Break trip strong with a 2-1 win over North Park, but fell to Coe College in the second game of the day, 8-0.

In the first game, North Park was able to score a run in the first inning and seemed poised to score some more with the bases loaded. Ashley Jacobson put the first inning away, catching a pop-fly and leaving three runners on-base for the Vikings. Jacobson would then record a RBI, batting-in Korin Hall to tie the game at 1-1. The next few innings allowed both teams to show off their defensive abilities. Both teams held the other to only two hits from innings 2 through 5.

After a three-up, three-down in the top of the sixth, Stout finally broke the seal with Kate Funk batting-in Alexa Anderson to put the Blue Devils up 2-1. The Blue Devils sealed up the game with another three-and-out in the top of the seventh finished.

Madee Kleinschmidt earned the win against North Park, only allowing four hits and recording five strikeouts.

The second game saw Stout struggling to get started offensively. After three innings, only nine Blue Devils saw a chance at the plate. Kelly Beck was finally able to break the no-hitter in the fourth inning, but two more quick outs by Coe left her on first. The Kohawks found more success on the plate, scoring four runs in the third inning alone. Coe recorded the win 8-0.

The Blue Devils will head back out to the diamond tomorrow to face Wooster at 3 pm (ET) followed by a game against Plattsburgh State.
