Hart's overtime goal gives Blue Devils a win over No. 4 Augsburg

MENOMONIE (November 5, 2022) - Blue Devil's Peyton Hart hard shot beat the Auggie's goalie to end the game in sudden death overtime. UW-Stout (4-0-0) came back from a two goal deficit to hand No. 4 Augsburg University (0-1-1) its first loss of the young season. Stout's Freshman goaltender Dawson Green finished the game with 37 saves. 

To start the game, both teams came out hard, but the Auggies led in the shot chart for the first period, 13-4. Stout's first power play came at 10:11 of the period. But during the power play, the Blue Devils took a penalty and both teams skated four on four. 

After the four on four, Augsburg went on a power play for 1:47, but could not find the back of the net and the Blue Devils killed off the penalty. 

At 15:53 of the first period, Augsburg got on the board first to take the lead. Austin Dollimer scored the Auggies goal with assists from Nick Woodward and Nick Catalano to make the game 1-0. 

The Blue Devils went on another power play at 16:36 of the period, but Augsburg killed the penalty off to skate even strength. 

At the end of the first period, Augsburg led 1-0. Shots in the period were in favor of the Auggies 13-4. 

In the second period, Augsburg scored at 8:32 of the period to push the lead to 2-0. Erik Palmqvist scored on a slap shot at the hash mark and was unassisted on the goal. 

But Stout would not back down. Only a minute after the Auggie goal, Blue Devil's Kobe Keller beat Vyletelka to cut the lead in half at 2-1. 

Augsburg went on a powerplay at 14:27 of the period, but Stout came up with a huge kill to skate back on even strength. 

Both teams had chances to score in the last four minutes, but no goals were accounted for. 

After two periods, Augsburg led in the shot category 24-13. 

In the third period, Stout went on a powerplay at 5:08 of the period. This time, the Blue Devils capitalized on the man advantage when Jacob Halvorson scored on an unassisted goal to tie the game 2-2. 

The third period saw a lot of back and forth action, but in the end, no goals were scored and the game headed into overtime. 

Both teams skated three on three in the five minute sudden death overtime period. Only 1:36 into the period, Blue Devil's Peyton Hart beat Vyletelka to end the game. 

Blue Devil's Dawson Green finished the game with 37 saves while Auggie's Samuel Vyletelka stopped 15 shots. 

Up next for the Blue Devils is a home matchup against Lake Forest College at the Fanetti Community Center with the puck drop at 7:00 p.m.
