Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Blue Devils skate past St. Scholastica. Win 4-1

MENOMONIE (November 4, 2022) - The Blue Devils topped St. Scholastica (1-2) with a score of 4-1. UW-Stout (3-0) finished the game with one goal in the first and third, and two goals coming in the second period.

As the game started, both teams came out flying trying to find the first goal of the game. The first 10 minutes of the period, the Saints peppered Tyler Masternak with 11 shots, but Masternak was up to the task, making 11 saves.

The first period didn't see much action until 1:54 left in the period. The Saint's goalie turned the puck over in their own zone where Cole Beckstead passed it over to Dylan Rallis. Rallis shot it from the top of the circles and got it past Jack Bostedt to give the Blue Devils the lead, 1-0.

At the end of the first period, St. Scholastica had 15 shots on net, while the Blue Devils had six. There were no penalties accounted for.

In the second period, it only took Stout 1:11 to get back on the scoreboard. Caleb Serre scored his first goal of the season to make the score 2-0. Kullan Daikawa assisted on the goal.

The game saw its first penalty when the Saints went on their first power play of the game at 2:51 of the period. But the Blue Devils killed off the penalty and both teams skated full strength.

At 16:38 of the second period, Blue Devil's Noe Perez scored his first career goal going top shelf on a deke by the crease. The goal was assisted by Cole Beckstead and Kullan Daikawa to make the game 3-0 going into the third period.

At 2:14 of the third period, the Saints went on their second power play of the game, but the Blue Devils penalty kill was enough to get back to even strength.

St. Scholastica got on the board at 12:14 of the period when Nathan Adrian beat Masternak. Tyler Hinterser and Alec Severson assisted on the goal to make the game 3-1 in favor of the Blue Devils.

With 3:09 left in the game, the Saints had an empty net to get an extra attacker. But the Blue Devils found the puck in the neutral zone and shot it down the ice to make the game out of reach. Kobe Keller got the goal with an assist from Maksis Brimanis to make the final score 4-1.

Blue Devil's goalie Tyler Masternak ended the game with 32 saves. Saint's Jack Bostedt saved 16.

Up next for the Blue Devils is a home matchup against No. 4 ranked Augsburg University on November 5 at the Fanetti Community Center. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
