A 12-0 run in the first half gave Stout the lead, and then a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter secured the first win of the season for the Blue Devils.
The first quarter was back and forth, with both teams being tied at 15 after one. The Vikings came out strong in the second, taking a the lead forcing Stout to play catch up. Bethany Lutheran led by 6 (27-21) at with 3:44 left in the half, the biggest lead of the game for the Vikings. Stout then went on their first big run, scoring 12 points in a row, including back-to-back three pointers from
Raegan Sorensen,
Sydney Brennan, and
Sam Schaeffer. At the end of the half, another
Sydney Brennan three-pointer put Stout up 36-27.
With the seven-point lead, Stout played a strong defensive game and continued to score on the other end. The Vikings closed the gap to four, but Stout extended it back to 12 in the middle fo the third. A back and forth third quarter finished out with Stout with a lead of six at 58-52.
Stout outscored the Vikings 15-9 in the fourth quarter. 13 of those 15 points came on a run to extend the lead to 19 at the 2 minute mark. And as the final buzzer sounded, Stout took home their first win of the year at 73-61.
Top Performers
- Amanda Giesen led the way with 18 points for the Blue Devils and Anna Mutch added in 17. Giesen pulled down five rebounds, and Mutch dished out five assists and recorded two steals.
- Raegan Sorensen had an impressive statline with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Sam Schaeffer took the ball away from five times.
- The Vikings had 23 points from Haley Meyer. Ashley Schindele recorded 14 points, going 4 for 6 from deep. Taryn Christensen led the team with eight rebounds.

- Stout outrebounded the visiting Vikings 37-29. The Blue Devils pulled down 15 offensive rebounds, and scored 12 second-chance points off those

Stout will head out on the road to Decorah, Iowa to take on Luther College on Friday, November 18. The Stout women will return home on Tuesday, November 22 to take on UW-Superior, the tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
