Late Rally Comes Just Short in 5-4 Loss to Lake Forest

Three goals in 37 second span in final minute not enough

The Blue Devils scored three goals in 37 seconds in a in a ferocious last minute rally that came just short  in a 5-4 loss to the Lake Forest Foresters. Trailing 5-1 with under a minute to play Jacob Halvorson tapped in a loose puck in on a loose puck in the crease to score his second goal of the night and sixth of the year to bring the Blue Devils to 5-2 with 54 seconds remaining. Just 21 seconds later Charles Massey pounced on a turnover and fired it past the Lake Forest netminder to score his first goal of the season. Massey's line stayed on the ice and 16 seconds later Peter Vestegen scored to cut the lead to just one with 17 seconds left. The Blue Devils had a couple of chances to tie in the final seconds but couldn't come up with the equalizer. 
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The three goals scored in a 37 second span in the third period set a school record for fastest three goals. Breaking the old mark of 49 seconds set in the 1972-73 season.
  • Stout allowed their first power play goal of the season and are now 20-21 on the season.
  • Stout allowed more than two goals in a game for the first time this season.
