Blue Devils, Knights end in 1-1 regulation tie

UW-Stout 1, Carleton College 1

MENOMONIE (September 7, 2021) – UW-Stout and Carleton College played to a 1-1 tie in regulation. The game was called just as the teams were heading into the first overtime period due to lightning to the west of the UW-Stout campus.

Both teams scored in the second half, with Stout (2-0-1) getting on the board first.

Freshman Hailey Kane fired a shot from about 30 yards out and found the back of the net in the 54th minute. Carly Kauffman earned the assist.

Carleton (1-0-2) evened the score in the 87th minute on a penalty kick by Cate Patterson.

Stout had several opportunities that proved to be ever so close in the second half. Rachel Younker and Marissa Steele both ricocheted a shot off the crossbar. Liv Winkler had a shot that went just high.

Haley Vokaty played her first game in the net for the Blue Devils, turning away two shots on frame. Stout put only one shot on net, but that was Kane's score. Stout out-shot Carleton, 8-7.

Stout returns to action when they host St. Scholastica, Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. and Cornell College, Sunday, Sept. 12 at noon.
