Blue Devils record third shutout of season, down St. Scholastica, 3-0

MENOMONIE (September 11, 2021) - UW-Stout got goals from three different players and three other players dished off assists as the Blue Devils went on to a 3-0 shutout of the College of St. Scholastica Saturday at Nelson Field.
 
Marissa Steele scored in the 36th minute with an assist from Whitley Carothers. Steele took the pass from Carothers, dribbled into the box with a defender shadowing her and put the shot into the bottom middle of the netting. 

Lexi Boyd scored her second goal of the season in the 48th minute with an assist from Liv Winkler after Winkler flicked the ball to her right in the box and Boyd beat the goalkeeper. 

Carly Kauffman scored Stout's final goal of the evening, scoring in the 87th minute with an assist from Remy Soulak after Soulak's shot deflected off the Saints' goalkeepers hands, on the cross bar, dropping to the ground where Kauffman was waiting to bury the shot. 
 
The Blue Devils (3-0-1) out-shot Scholastica, 11-1 and put eight shots on net. Stout goalkeeper Haley Vokaty recorded one save on the night. The Saints (0-3-1) Brianna Jorgenson recorded five saves.

The win was Stout's third shut out of the young season. 
 
Stout makes the quick turnaround and will host Cornell College Sunday, Sept. 12 at noon.
