Stout takes down two Iowa foes in second day of Iowa invitational

PELLA, Iowa (September 4, 2021) - The UW-Stout volleyball team won both matches Saturday on the second day of the Grinnell College/Central College Invitational, downing the University of Dubuque, 3-0, and host Central College, 3-1, to run their season record to 4-1.

Lexie Nelson's 12 kills and 28 assists led Stout to the 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 win over Dubuque. Jessica Barr added 11 kills, one solo block and three assisted blocks. Sidney Hoverman added nine kills and had three assisted blocks.

Hoverman led Stout in the 27-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18 win over Central, winding up for 13 kills, finishing the two-day event with 52 kills. Barr and Caroline Braun added nine kills apiece. Nelson finished with 31 assists. Terrah Moshier had 22 digs. 

Nelson and Jessica Barr were named to the all-tournament team.

Stout returns home Wednesday, Sept. 8 to host St. Mary's University, then will be at the UW-Oshkosh Polito's Classic, Sept. 10-11, to face Lake Forest College, Wisconsin Lutheran College, Lakeland University and St. Norbert College.
