MENOMONIE (September 29, 2021) - UW-Stout had several opportunities late, but could not find the back of the net as Hamline University carried a 1-0 win out of Nelson Field Wednesday.
Hamline scored what would prove to be the only goal of the game coming out of halftime when Emily Hillis scored in the 49th minute.

The Blue Devils (7-3-1) had a couple of chances late, including a shot by
Carly Kauffman about five minutes after the goal the Hamline goalkeeper Lauren Cicora swatted away.
Hailey Kane who put the ball right into the Hamline goalies' midsection and
Abbi Moreland chased down a ball that Cicora fell on.Â

The Pipers (5-3-0) had only the one shot on goal, while Stout put three shots on net with Cicora making two saves and a Piper defender swatting away another chance. Stout held an 11-5 advantage in overall shots. Stout also held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.Â

The Blue Devils will open conference play when they host UW-Platteville, Friday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m.
