Blue Devil tennis continues into conference play

UW-Stevens Point 8, UW-Stout 1

MENOMONIE (September 14, 2021) - Lauren Couves picked up a win at No. 1 singles and Anna Kent and Kyrstin Hanson put up big fights before falling as UW-Stevens Point downed UW-Stout, 8-1, in a conference contest Wednesday.

Couves defeated the Pointer's Barbara Covek, 6-4, 6-3, to claim Stout lone win of the day.

Kent was beaten at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4 by Chloe Leithold.

Hanson fought to the end in her No. 6 singles match with Kaylee Woelfel. Woelfel won the first set 6-4, but Hanson forced a tie-breaker in the second set, dropping the second set 7-6 (7-3).

Couves and Annie Sandry had a tough match at No. 1 doubles, before dropping an 8-4 decision.

Stout is off until Wednesday, Sept. 29 when they travel to UW-Eau Claire.
