UW-La Crosse 92, UW-Stout 75
LA CROSSE (February 19, 2021) - After UW-Stout pulled to within one point, 23-22, midway through the first half, UW-La Crosse went on a 21-8 tear over the next six minutes and never looked back to hand the Blue Devils a 92-75 loss Friday at Mitchell Hall.
La Crosse (5-1, 5-1 WIAC) went into halftime with a 49-30 lead and stretched that deep into 20-plus lead in the second half. Stout (1-5, 1-5 WIAC) got as close as 14 point five minutes into the second half, but the Eagles stretched that to as much as 27 points over the next five minutes.
The Eagles' Ethan Anderson led all scorers with 31 points, hitting 10-20 shots from the floor, including three 3-pointer, and 8 of 9 free throws. Henry Noone came off the bench to score 17 points and Wyatt Cook scored 16.
The Blue Devils were led by
Armani Tinsley's 16 points.
Lovell Williams contributed 14 points.
Drew Scott pulled down career-best seven rebounds. The Blue Devils collected seven blocked shots, more than twice as many as they have had the previous five games.Â
La Crosse shot 43.2 percent (32-74) from the floor, draining 11 3-pointers and 17-19 free throws. The Eagles outrebounded Stout, 37-33.
Stout saw their shooting percentage go up throughout the game. Stout shot 40 percent (10-25) in the first half, but shot 58.3 percent (14-24) in the second half to finish at 49.0 percent (24-49), a season high.Â
The game was the final game in divisional play. Stout will be at crossover opponent UW-Whitewater, Wednesday, Feb. 24, then will conclude the regular season, Friday, Feb. 26, but hosting the Warhawks.
