WHITEWATER (February 24, 2021) - Jon Ciriack hit a 3-pointer with 1:26 left in overtime to tie the game and
Armani Tinsley hit a 3-pointer with 50 seconds left to give Stout a three point lead and the Blue Devils went on to a 93-90 win over UW-Whitewater Wednesday at Kachel Gymnasium.
Ciriacks, playing in his first game since an injury in the season opener, played a big part in regulation to get Stout to overtime.
Trailing 82-78, Ciriacks drained a 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining in regulation to cut the lead to one. The Warhawks' Derek Gray hit a free throw to make it 83-81 with 14 seconds left.
Armani Tinsley tied the scored with a layup with three seconds left.
Stout took the lead early in overtime, but the Warhawks took an 86-85 lead on a pair of free throws, then stretched the lead to three points, 88-85, on Derek Gray's layup. Ciriack tied the game, and Tinsley gave Stout a three point, 91-88 lead. The Warhawks' Gage Malensek pulled the Warhawks to within one point, but Ciriacks layup gave Stout the cushion they would need.
Tinsley led all scorers with 25 points.
Luke Geiger added 20 points and Ciriacks and
Lovell Williams finished with 15 each.
The Warhawks got 19 points from Malensek and Trevon Chisolm, 16 opints from Gray, 12 points from Will Schultz and 11 points from Jack Brahm.
The win is the second consecutive win over the Warhawks. The Blue Devils defeated the Warhawks in the 2019-20 season finale.
The teams will meet again Friday, Feb. 26 in Menomonie.
