UW-Eau Claire 10, UW-Stout 2
EAU CLAIRE (February 17, 2021) - The UW-Stout hockey team ran into a buzz saw when they travel to Hobbs Ice Arena Wednesday as host UW-Eau Claire piled up 10 goals against the Blue Devils in a 10-2 decision.
The first period featured six goals, but five of them were from Eau Claire (3-1, 3-1 WIAC). Stout closed out the period on
Joey Petronack's power play goal with 18 seconds left in the period.
The Blugolds scored three more goals in the second before
Riley Jensen made it 8-2 in the final two minutes of the period. Eau Claire added two more goals in the third.
Brennan Kitchen made his first start of the season, but was tagged for four goals and was pulled 11 minutes into the opening period. Kitchen stil made nine saves in just over one half of a period.
Brady Meyers finished the game, making 24 saves, but surrendered six goals. Zach Dyment recorded 16 saves for Eau Claire.
Stout came into the game in first place, and exit the game in a four-way tie for first place. The teams will meet again Friday, Feb. 19 at the Fanetti Community Center.Â
