MENOMONIE (November 6, 2021) - In the last home game for UW-Stout (5-4, 2-4 WIAC) the Falcons of River Falls scored 57 points to en route the Blue Devils 57-35.
To start the game, UW-River Falls (7-2, 4-2 WIAC) received the kick and went with a hurry up offense. The Falcons took 18 plays and 73 yards to score on a three yard Charlie Huschka reception from Kole Hinrichsen to take the lead. The Cade Henry extra point made it a 7-0 game.
On the next series, the Blue Devils didn't get anything going on offense and went three and out for their first offensive possession.
At the end of the first quarter, the score read River Falls leading the Blue Devils 7-0.
In the second quarter, the Falcons scored with 14:04 left in the half on a 30 yard pass to Andy Groebner thrown from Hinrichsen. The extra point was blocked by the Blue Devils and the score remained 13-0.
On the next possession, the Blue Devils scored a long touchdown as
Arthur Cox caught a slant and took it to the endzone for a 65 yard touchdown reception from
Sean Borgerding.
Luke Cool kick made the score 13-7.
But on the next possession, River Falls took 10 plays and 70 yards to find the back of the endzone. Jager Reissmann caught a 20 yard pass from Hinrichsen and a Henry kick made it 20-7 in favor of the Falcons.
With time running out in the half, the Blue Devils were in Falcons territory, but a River Falls stop on a fourth and one made it a turnover on downs. On the very next play, Luke Fugate ran for 65 yards to score for the Falcons. Henry's kick with 5:46 left in the half made it 27-7.
In the second half, the Blue Devils tried to claw their way back in the game. But the Falcons offense was too much for Stout. With 10:50 left in the third quarter, Falcon's Henry Cade made a 24 yard field goal to make the game 30-7.
With 5:30 left in the third quarter, Hinrichson found Brady Agrimson for a 32 yard pass. The two point conversion for the Falcons was unsuccessful and the scoreboard read 36-7.
On the next possession, the Blue Devils raced down and
Sean Borgerding found
Levy Hamer for a 5 yard touchdown. Cool's extra point made it 36-14.
The River Falls next possession, Luke Fugate ran it 43 yards for a touchdown. The extra point made the game 43-14.
With 10:53 remaining in the game, Blue Devils
Matt Pomietlo caught a pass from Borgerding for a 9 yard touchdown.
On the very next play, Falcon's Luke Fugate ran it 74 yards for a score and made the game 50-21.
With 8:00 left in the game, Borgerding found
Matt Pomietlo again, this time for a 5 yard touchdown pass.
Falcon's Kaleb Blaha scored on a one yard run with 3:51 left in the game.
Stout found the endzone one more time in the game as Borgerding completed a pass in the endzone to
Tyler Seymour for a 26 yard touchdown with 49 seconds left. The final score read 57-35 in favor of River Falls.
Leading in air yards for the Blue Devils was
Sean Borgerding as he had 358 yards passing including 5 touchdowns. Kole Hinrichsen for the Falcons led with 175 yards passing including three touchdowns.
On the ground, Blue Devil's
Matt Pomietlo finished with 39 rushing yards. Falcon's Luke Fugate led the rushing attack in the game with 247 yards including three touchdowns.
Stout's
Arthur Cox led the receivers with 116 yards with one touchdown.
Levy Hamer finished with 74 yards,
Tyler Seymour had 64 yards, and
Parker Fossum finished with 55 yards.
